NBN & Internet Internal Cabling

NBN & internet cabling.
For every provider.

We support customers of all internet service providers. Whether your service is FTTP, FTTC, FTTN or FTTB, the cabling inside your property plays an important role in your connection. Don’t let outdated wiring hold back the internet plan you’re paying for.

Request a free assessment ↗

Your provider’s network tests fine. Your connection still struggles?

Told your service tests fine up to the node or network connection point, but your internal cabling is the problem? That’s where NexSpan comes in. We trace internal wiring faults, test sockets and cable runs, and recommend the repairs or upgrades your property needs—whichever internet provider you use.

NBN delivers its network connection to a designated boundary point, which varies with your connection type. Customer cabling beyond that point is generally the responsibility of the property owner or building management. Even when the incoming connection is performing well, old cables, damaged sockets or an unsuitable internal setup can limit the experience at your devices.

NexSpan Group can rewire your home, office or warehouse, replace ageing cabling and install modern data outlets and Cat 6 network cabling suited to your connection. From the connection point through to your router, workstations and other wired devices, we help create a reliable internal network capable of carrying high-speed internet throughout your premises.

Our technicians assess your existing setup and recommend practical improvements, with a free assessment and competitive quote. For apartments and multi-unit buildings, we can also assess cabling between your premises, IDFs and MDF, subject to access and required approvals.

Our goal is to remove internal cabling bottlenecks so you can get more from the service you pay for. Actual speeds depend on your network technology, available line speed, internet plan, provider, equipment and Wi-Fi conditions; internal rewiring cannot increase speeds beyond what your service supports.

Make the most of your internal wiring

Upgrade the cable path. Improve the setup.

Faulty sockets & old extensions

Inspect ageing telephone sockets, damaged cables and unused branches. On copper-based services, unsuitable extensions can affect performance; we assess the wiring before recommending changes.

FTTP-to-router data cabling

Install a suitable Ethernet run from your connection box towards your preferred router or network location. Provider-owned equipment is left in place unless an authorised relocation is specifically arranged.

Extra outlets where you need them

Add network points for a study, living area or workspace, with cable routes planned around access, appearance and your property’s layout.

Home & business networking

Better connections.
On every level.

From upstairs bedrooms to busy shop floors, NexSpan builds wired and wireless networks around the way you live and work.

Love your home. Enjoy the connection.

A two- or three-storey home gives you room to spread out—but a router on the ground floor may struggle to reach upstairs bedrooms, studies and living spaces. Thick walls, floor slabs and the position of your router can leave you with weak Wi-Fi where you need it most.

If adding boosters hasn’t solved the problem, NexSpan can assess your home and install a properly planned cabling network. We can provide dedicated wired data points and wired Wi-Fi access points on each floor, positioned to suit your layout and coverage needs.

Connect your home office, smart TV, gaming console and other fixed devices directly by cable, while access points bring Wi-Fi closer to your phones, tablets and laptops. It’s a practical way to improve coverage and reliability throughout your home.

A network that works as hard as you do.

Whether you run an office, café, restaurant, retail store or warehouse, your network supports more than internet browsing. Payment terminals, phone extensions, workstations and shared equipment all need dependable connections.

NexSpan designs and installs structured cabling and data points to suit your premises, with wired connections for fixed equipment and Wi-Fi access points placed around staff areas, customer spaces and different floors.

We can help organise your network cabinet, improve cable labelling and plan connections for your current equipment and future growth, with setup tailored to your devices and provider requirements.

Payment stations & point of sale

Dedicated network points for compatible EFTPOS terminals, checkout stations and point-of-sale equipment, coordinated with your payment and equipment providers.

Phone extensions & business calls

Cabling and network connections for compatible phone extensions, PABX and IP phone systems, helping your team stay connected across rooms and floors.

Workstations & shared equipment

Wired networking for computers, printers, compatible local servers and other business devices, with data outlets placed where your team needs them.

Staff & guest Wi-Fi

Access-point placement planned around your building, with separate staff and guest networks where appropriate. Suitable for homes, offices, cafés and larger commercial spaces.

We assess your layout, building materials and equipment before recommending a solution. Coverage and performance depend on your premises, devices and internet service.

Let’s improve your network ↗

Ready for today. Room for tomorrow.

New fit-outs & renovations

Plan outlet locations and cable pathways before rooms are finished. Allow for desks, access points, payment stations and equipment as your space grows.

Racks, patch panels & switches

Organise network cabinet cabling and patching, with labelled connections that make it easier to identify devices and maintain your network.

Check the existing network

Review outlets, cable runs and connections before replacing equipment. We recommend wired and wireless improvements suited to your layout and everyday use.

Inspection. Testing. Clear records.

Look after the equipment behind your business.

Visual checks and electrical testing

Inspect plugs, leads and appliance housings for visible damage, followed by electrical tests appropriate to the equipment. Testing helps identify faults that may not be obvious during everyday use.

Identify tested equipment

Clear tags and test records help you keep track of equipment, outcomes and follow-up dates. Tell us about your asset-register or reporting requirements when arranging the work.

Plan for your environment

Equipment exposed to moisture, dust, heat, vibration or rough handling may need a different inspection schedule from equipment in a low-risk office. We discuss your working conditions and site requirements.

What equipment can I ask about?

Portable plug-in appliances, extension leads, power boards, office equipment and tools. Include the types and approximate quantities in your enquiry so we can confirm the scope.

How often should equipment be tested?

The interval depends on the equipment, its use, workplace risks and applicable requirements. There is no single schedule suitable for every business. Relevant guidance includes AS/NZS 3760 and, for construction and demolition work, AS/NZS 3012.

What happens if an item is unsafe?

Unsafe equipment should be taken out of use and kept disconnected until a competent person has repaired or tested it and found it safe. We explain the outcome so you can arrange suitable repairs or replacement.

Test & Tag supports electrical equipment safety; a tag is not a guarantee that an appliance will remain safe indefinitely. Continue checking for damage between scheduled inspections.

MDF refurbishment & upgrades

Old connections.
A fresh start.

Your building’s main distribution frame (MDF) is a vital link between the telecommunications network and the cabling to your premises. When it deteriorates, your connection can suffer.

Discuss an MDF upgrade ↗

Don’t let an ageing MDF hold your connection back.

Corroded terminals, loose connections, damaged wiring and years of redundant cables can contribute to line noise, unstable connections, dropouts and reduced speeds on copper-based services. A cluttered or poorly labelled MDF can also make faults harder to trace and repairs more time-consuming.

If tenants are experiencing crackling telephone lines, frequent dropouts or slow NBN or ADSL speeds, an old, corroded or obsolete MDF could be a contributing factor. An assessment can help identify whether the MDF or associated building cabling needs attention.

Who arranges the upgrade?

In a shared or managed building, an MDF upgrade should be coordinated through the landlord, building manager or strata/owners corporation, depending on ownership and management arrangements. NexSpan can work with the responsible party to assess the installation, confirm access and plan the upgrade.

Planned work. Less disruption.

NexSpan Group can refurbish or upgrade your MDF with the aim of minimising time offline. Our technicians plan the work around active services, coordinate any required interruptions and check connections as the work is completed, helping return affected services to normal as efficiently as possible. Any anticipated downtime will be discussed before work begins.

  • Remove redundant cabling
Identify unused cables and dead wires before removing them, with active services checked and protected during the work.
  • Restore reliable connections
Replace corroded or damaged terminals and renew poor connections where needed.
  • Organise and label clearly
Tidy cable runs and improve identification to make future maintenance and fault finding easier.
  • Prepare for current service requirements
Assess the existing installation and recommend suitable components and cabling improvements.

The result is a cleaner, more maintainable MDF designed to support dependable connectivity and reduce speed loss caused by poor connections. Actual service speeds also depend on line length, internal cabling, network technology, equipment and your provider.

Make future work easier

Clear labelling and organised wiring help technicians follow connections and investigate future faults with less guesswork.
